"Thank you !!!! to everyone who Supported The Lake Toxaway Community Center during our 2026 Season of Friday night Dinners."
That note sits on the Lake Toxaway Community Center homepage now. Right under it is a promise with no date attached: "We will have 'Special Events' during the Fall and Winter Months." For anyone who built a summer week around Friday dinner at the Community Center, the obvious question is what comes next.
Through late October, November and December the community calendar changes a step at a time, with specific dates on specific roads. The weekly routine moves from one shared Friday table to a handful of businesses along Rosman Highway. Then a few fixed dates carry the community the rest of the way to the holidays. Once you know those dates, the off-season still has plenty on it.
The week this post comes out is the busiest stretch on the late-October calendar, and the events fall one after another.
The bingo night is worth a closer look. The Community Center runs bingo on every fourth Saturday, so it keeps going after the dinner season ends. On the 2026 calendar, the fourth Saturday of November is November 28 and the fourth Saturday of December is December 26. The center has posted only the October 24 date so far, so check its homepage or Facebook page before planning around the later ones.
With Friday dinners finished, regular weeknight and daytime plans depend on whichever business has its doors open. Each place keeps different days, and lining their posted schedules up together gives you a week with a pattern to it.
| Spot | Address | Posted schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Sweetwater Perk & Creamery | 15886 Rosman Highway | Monday–Saturday 7 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.–5 p.m. |
| Panthertown Cafe | 16614 Rosman Highway | Tuesday–Saturday breakfast 7:30–10:30 a.m., lunch 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.; Sunday breakfast 8 a.m.–1 p.m.; closed Monday |
| Historic Toxaway Market | 15889 Rosman Hwy | Tuesday–Saturday, 11 a.m.–7 p.m. through November 30 |
| Moondance Wine Bar | 13481 Rosman Highway | Wednesday–Saturday; kitchen 2–9 p.m., market noon–9 p.m., reservations 5:30–9 p.m. |
| Osteria del Monte | Sapphire | Dinner nightly except Tuesdays outside the Memorial Day to Labor Day stretch |
| The Restaurant at The Greystone | 220 Greystone Lane | Open year-round to the public |
Laid out together, these schedules show which days are thin.
Mondays. Panthertown Cafe is closed, and neither the market nor Moondance lists Monday hours. Sweetwater Perk & Creamery is the Rosman Highway stop on this list with a posted Monday schedule, opening at 7 a.m. A spring 2026 profile in The Laurel describes the shop as open "pretty much all year," so Monday coffee doesn't depend on the season.
Where Tuesday dinner happens. Moondance's week runs Wednesday through Saturday under a schedule that began September 6, 2026. Up the road in Sapphire, Osteria del Monte serves dinner every night from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The rest of the year it closes on Tuesdays, according to a May 2026 profile in The Laurel marking the restaurant's 25 years. Tuesday is a good night for a market run before 7 p.m., or a reservation at the Greystone. The restaurant's OpenTable listing describes it as open to the public year-round.
From Wednesday through Saturday, every spot on the list has hours posted for those days, and Moondance's 2 p.m. kitchen opening leaves room for a late lunch. Moondance isn't new this year, either. The Laurel's March 2026 feature said the wine bar opened the previous summer, so fall 2026 is its second off-season on Rosman Highway.
Sunday mornings belong to Panthertown Cafe's breakfast, which runs until 1 p.m., and Sweetwater, which opens at 11.
Nothing on the Rosman Highway list changes its posted hours in November. The changes that month come from earlier sunsets, and the one with a published schedule is at Gorges State Park.
The park's hours run 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in October and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in November, so you lose an hour of evening access when the month turns. The Grassy Ridge Visitor Center stays on 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. NC State Parks currently lists the park's hiking trails and its bike and bridle trails as open.
The hike most visitors come for is the Rainbow Falls Trail. The park rates it strenuous at 1.5 miles one way. The state's cultural resources department notes in a 2026 waterfall roundup that Rainbow Falls itself sits in Pisgah National Forest, past the park's Rainbow Falls Trailhead, with Turtleback Falls farther along the same route. That's three miles round trip on a strenuous trail. On a November afternoon, it pays to set out early.
Toxaway Falls takes no planning at all. The same roundup points to the bridge walkway on U.S. 64 as the viewing spot.
Earthshine's November date is aimed at anglers. The lodge has a Fly-Fishing Retreat on November 6 through 8, run with Headwaters Outfitters. It's planned as a stay, with days on the water, home-cooked meals in the evenings and a small instructor-to-student ratio.
If one date marks the start of winter in Lake Toxaway, it's December 1, when Historic Toxaway Market moves to its winter schedule. The market keeps its Tuesday through Saturday days but cuts its hours from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. to noon–5 p.m., and stays on that schedule through March 14.
That takes the daily window from eight hours to five, and the hours that go are the ones a commuter uses. Through November 30 you can still pick up wine, gourmet groceries or prepared food on the way home at 6:30 p.m. Starting December 1, the market closes at 5. Weeknight dinner plans in December have to fit around that. A noon stop for the week's groceries works. A 6 p.m. stop for a bottle on the way to a neighbor's house doesn't, and Moondance's market, open until 9 Wednesday through Saturday, fills that later slot.
The holiday weeks bring a few fixed dates, some in Lake Toxaway and one over the county line.
Friday, November 27, in Cashiers. The day after Thanksgiving, the Village Green in Cashiers holds its Mistletoe Market from noon to 5 p.m. and Santa visits from 1 to 4 p.m. with registration. The tree lighting event runs 5 to 7 p.m., and the tree is lit at 5:45. It's the nearest posted tree lighting for Lake Toxaway households, and the timing works with the Cashiers market in the afternoon and the lights at dusk.
Friday, December 18 through Sunday, December 20, at Earthshine. An Appalachian Christmas fills the lodge with fires in the stone fireplaces, holiday decorations and hot chocolate, and ends with brunch with Santa.
Saturday, December 19, at noon, at Lakeside Cemetery. The Community Center lists a noon gathering at Lakeside Cemetery, 10 East Shore Road, for that Saturday. The listing doesn't name the event. The date matches Wreaths Across America, which has set its 2026 national day for Saturday, December 19. The Transylvania Times has reported on Lakeside Cemetery, at Lake Toxaway Baptist Church, as an official Wreaths Across America location. In an earlier year, the paper covered a wreath-laying for 59 veterans there that was organized by local volunteers and paid for through sponsorships. The Community Center's page and Facebook will carry any details for this year's gathering.
Saturday, December 26, possibly. If the every-fourth-Saturday bingo schedule holds, the year's last bingo night falls the day after Christmas. Food sales would start at 4 p.m. and games at 6.
The Community Center's promised fall and winter "Special Events" haven't been dated yet. When they are, its homepage will be the first place they show up.
Our Lake Toxaway office keeps a calendar like this one through the off-season, and we're glad to share what we hear from neighbors along Rosman Highway, whether you live here full time or are deciding whether to keep your place open past Thanksgiving. Stop by or reach out to the team at Petit Properties anytime.
